Complete Your Smile with Dental Implants

Don’t let missing teeth lead to feelings of embarrassment. It’s a far more common occurrence than you may realize – and at Harmony Family Dentistry, we offer dental implants that are so comfortable and secure you’ll forget you’re even wearing them.

If you’re missing one to a few teeth, dental implants may be the right option for you. The first step toward finding out is an initial consultation in our comfortable, state-of-the-art Vancouver WA office. Call us today to schedule yours.

The 5 Biggest Benefits of Dental Implants

  • Eating – It’s much easier to eat with a full set of teeth, but also, when you have a missing tooth, you often adjust your bite to avoid the missing tooth. Over a prolonged period, this can damage your jaw. With a dental implant, you can chew normally again rather than moving your food to one side.
Speaking – A missing tooth can also affect the way you speak. Slurring and other mild forms of speech impediment are common in people with one or more missing teeth.
  • Smiling – Perhaps the most obvious benefit of a dental implant is its aesthetic value. With a complete set of teeth, you feel less self-conscious. It’s amazing how liberating it is when you smile freely while socializing.
  • Oral Health – Your teeth provide critical stimulation to your jawbone. Dental implants provide that stimulation, which can prevent further bone loss.
  • Longevity – These prosthetic teeth attach securely into your jawbone and can last for multiple decades.

What Can You Expect When You’re Getting Dental Implants?

This procedure is completed over two appointments scheduled a few months apart. During the first appointment, you will undergo a light surgical procedure that inserts a titanium post into your jawbone through the gums at the site of the missing tooth. We will attach a temporary, lightweight crown to the end of this post to ensure your smile looks good in the interim.

Once this healing is complete and the post is integrated with your jawbone, you will return to for your second appointment where we will install your permanent dental implant. Your tooth will look identical in shape, size, and shade to your other teeth, giving you a seamless smile. If you decide something doesn’t look or feel right, we are happy to change the prosthetic. Our goal is to give you something you’re completely happy with.

Dental Implants Last a Long Time

Dental implants are extremely durable and typically last a decade or two before they need replacement. With proper care, some patients keep the same implant for the rest of their lives.

Be sure to brush and floss your implant as you do all your other teeth. It is also important to avoid chewing on hard, inedible objects such as your fingernails or pens since these can crack your implants and require early replacement.
